What we're all about
Iowa is often imagined as a flat, empty expanse. But people who have lived here know what Iowa really is: a land of rolling hills. And just as our landscape isn't as flat as some might think... neither is our art.
Rolling Hills Music Festival celebrates the artistic legacy of Iowa and aims to strengthen its future by placing our region's own music and musicians center stage.
Our mission
To enrich the lives of central Iowa residents and working artists with musical experiences that inspire joy, creativity, and connection.
Our values
We insist that every community deserves great art.
We champion the art and artists of Iowa and the greater Midwest.
We take an expansive view of what classical music is and can be.
We welcome all audience members as neighbors.
We make decisions with the intent of nourishing the places where we operate.
About the organization
Rolling Hills Music Festival is a project of Rolling Hills Chamber Music, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization launched in 2025 with the intention of increasing live classical music opportunities in Ames. Helmed by Ames native and violinist Ari Dubin, our board of directors is made up of professional musicians who grew up and continue to perform in the Ames area.
